What is the mission of Colégio Palas Atena?
To educate children and adolescents, in the State of Amazonas, for the autonomous exercise of citizenship in a democratic environment, guided by a humanizing ethic.
The school works toward the whole formation of the student and builds the conditions that teaching and learning require. The aim is to contribute to human emancipation through access to our historical and cultural heritage, and to form creative, engaged, critical and autonomous people, able to contribute to social, cultural, scientific and technological change, and to promote peace and the preservation of the planet.
Principles
Five ethical principles, and what the school means by each
They guide how the rules and the academic work are built, with the larger aim of forming a planetary conscience in children and young people.
Commitment
Honoring your obligations, seeking your own well-being and that of everyone around you.
Justice
Seeing and weighing what is right, what is fair. It is the principle in whose name rights must be respected.
Respect
For yourself, holding a positive and realistic self-esteem; for others, caring about how they will feel about what you are doing.
Responsibility
Recognizing your acts as the result of your own will, and answering for the consequences that follow from them.
Solidarity
Acting generously and in good faith toward others, practicing citizenship through justice, equality and fairness.
The ground the work stands on
The four pillars of education from the UN
They are the reference Palas Atena adopts as part of its method, alongside the 10 general competencies of the BNCC, the Brazilian national curriculum.
